Zeynel A. Karcioglu

Dr. Zeynel A. Karcioglu is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology particularly in the areas of retinoblastoma, externaleEye tumors, and primary and metastatic orbital neoplasms. Dr. Karcioglu is also a diplomat of the American Board of Pathology.

Biography

Dr. Karcioglu is a Turkish American, in 1969 he received his medical degree at the Hacettepe University School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey.

Dr. Karcioglu served his sabbatical leave as Director of Research and Chief of the Ophthalmic Oncology Division at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In addition, he was involved in many collaborative research projects with other institutions in Europe and the Middle and Far East during his tenure in Riyadh.

As the Director of Tulane's O'Brien Laboratory, Dr. Karcioglu reviews all ocular pathology specimens from Tulane University Hospital and Charity Hospital, and he is in charge of ophthalmic pathology training of the residents. He has been a member of Tulane Ophthalmology and Pathology Departments since 1980 as a resident, instructor, and faculty member. He had his board certifications in Ophthalmology and Pathology, following residency training at Tulane and Emory University Medical Schools in Ophthalmology and Pathology, respectively.
